Support boundary
Readable data depends on the exact model, firmware, and whether the original MakerNotes survived—not only on the logo on the camera. Models may use ShutterCount or ImageNumber, so coverage varies. Mechanical shutter count, total shutter count and ImageCount are not interchangeable. Pocket Shutter shows the source field and confidence; ImageCount is a usage clue, not automatic proof of mechanical actuations.
Prepare an original file
- Take a new photo with the camera; keep the RAW file when possible.
- Copy it with a card reader, cable or original-file transfer.
- Avoid screenshots, thumbnails, messaging-app compression and edited exports.
If no count appears
- Confirm that the target camera created the file.
- Try the RAW original and check that EXIF and MakerNotes remain intact.
- Check the applicable camera limitations; a missing count does not mean the camera is unused.
